About

Our Story

David began his career on Captiva Island, Florida after completing the Culinary Arts program at Rhode Island School of Design. Dave also spent six months at sea as the Officers’ Head Chef with the USS Massachusetts Maritime Academy. After taking some time off Dave returned to his craft and became the Head Chef at Café Itri in Cranston, then the Improv in Providence before opening Macera’s Italian Family Restaurant in the fall of 1995.

A Place for Family

At the time Dave had three young children, so Macera’s was opened on the premise that families could dine together, with both parents and children enjoying their selections. Now, twenty two years later, Macera’s has grown with the help from staff that have been here since opening and are now family. Major expansions include a banquet room, larger take-out and also expanded dining including a bar to watch your favorite sports team while dining.
